Piercing tool for making holes

What was the problem?

The client had problems with the quality of products for home slicers and with the delivery dates.

The biggest problem was with the holes on the opposite profiles that should be coaxial.

Their supplier was using 6 different piercing tools and 6 phases of mechanical treatment. The opposite holes were being pierced in 2 phases.

This caused several problems:

• interrupted production,
• a lot of waste,
• consequently, high costs.

What was our solution?

We analyzed the problem area and developed 1 piercing tool on which products are made in three consecutive phases.

The opposite holes are pierced simultaneously. A worker holds the product only once instead of six times!
